John 10:11-18 "I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep. The hired hand is not the shepherd who owns the sheep. So when he sees the wolf coming, he abandons the sheep and runs away. Then the wolf attacks the flock and scatters it. The man runs away because he is a hired hand and cares nothing for the sheep.
"I am the good shepherd; I know my sheep and my sheep know me- just as the Father knows me and I know the Father-and I lay down my life for the sheep. I have other sheep that are not of this sheep pen. I must bring them also. They too will listen to my voice, and there shall be one flock and one shepherd. The reason my Father loves me is that I lay down my life-only to take it up again. No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord. I have authority to lay it down and authority to take it up again. This command I received from my Father."

VS. 25-30 "Jesus answered, "I did tell you, but you do not believe. The miracles I do in my Father's name speak for me, but you do not believe because you are not my sheep. My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch the m out of my Father's hand. I and the Father are one."
1.) THE BIBLE COMPARES GOD’S PEOPLE WITH SHEEP!

a.) Matt 9:36 "When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd."

2.) JESUS CONTRASTS HIMSELF WITH FALSE LEADERS WHO EXPLOIT PEOPLE!

3.) JESUS IS THE GOOD SHEPHERD AND LAYS DOWN HIS LIFE FOR THE SHEEP!
"No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord. I have authority to lay it down and authority to take it up again. This command I received from my Father."

4.) ANYONE WHO HEARS JESUS’ VOICE AND FOLLOWS HIM IS PROMISED AN ABUNDANT, ETERNAL LIFE! "My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of my hand."

a.) Ps 23 "The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not be in want. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he restores my soul. He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever."
b.) 1 Peter 2:24-25 "He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed. For you were like sheep going astray, but now you have returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls."

I Am The Gate

John 10:1-10 "I tell you the truth, the man who does not enter the sheep pen by the gate, but climbs in by some other way, is a thief and a robber. The man who enters by the gate is the shepherd of his sheep. The watchman opens the gate for him, and the sheep listen to his voice. He calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. When he has brought out all his own, he goes on ahead of them, and his sheep follow him because they know his voice. But they will never follow a stranger; in fact, they will run away from him because they do not recognize a stranger's voice."
Jesus used this figure of speech, but they did not understand what he was telling them. Therefore Jesus said again, "I tell you the truth, I am the gate for the sheep. All who ever came before me were thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not listen to them. I am the gate; whoever enters through me will be saved. He will come in and go out, and find pasture. The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full."

1.) JESUS IS THE EXCLUSIVE GATE TO LIFE IN THE KINGDOM OF GOD!
"I am the Gate for the sheep, All others who came before me were thieves and robbers."

2.) JESUS IS THE NARROW GATE!

a.) Matt 7:13-14 "Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it"

3.) JESUS IS THE GATE TO SECURITY AND PROVISION!
"He will come in and go out, and find pasture."

a.) Phil 4:19 "And my God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus."

4.) JESUS IS THE GATE TO ABUNDANT LIFE!
"The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full."

5.) JESUS IS THE INCLUSIVE GATE TO ETERNAL LIFE!
"I am the gate; whoever enters through me will be saved."

a.) John 3:35-36 "The Father loves the Son and has placed everything in his hands. Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God's wrath remains on him."
b.) Rev 3:20 "Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him, and he with me."

"I AM THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD"

"When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life." Jn.8:12

1.) LIGHT IS A BIBLICAL METAPHOR FOR GOD’S PRESENCE HOLINESS!
a.) Ex 13:21 "By day the LORD went ahead of them in a pillar of cloud to guide them on their way and by night in a pillar of fire to give them light, so that they could travel by day or night."
b.) 1 John 1:5 "This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all."

2.) JESUS IS THE LIGHT OF GOD!
a.) John 1:4-9 "In him was life, and that life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, but the darkness has not understood it. There came a man who was sent from God; his name was John. He came as a witness to testify concerning that light, so that through him all men might believe. He himself was not the light; he came only as a witness to the light. The true light that gives light to every man was coming into the world."

3.) CHRISTIANS WALK IN THE LIGHT OF THE LORD!
a.) Ps 89:15 "Blessed are those who have learned to acclaim you, who walk in the light of your presence, O LORD."
b.) 1John 1:6-7 "If we claim to have fellowship with him yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live by the truth. But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin."

4.) THE WORLD IS LOST IN DARKNESS!
a.) John 3:19-20 "This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but men loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that his deeds will be exposed."

5.) CHRISTIANS REFLECT THE LIGHT OF CHRIST TO THE WORLD!
a.) 2Cor 3:18 "And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect the Lord's glory, are being transformed into his likeness with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.
b.) Matt 5:14-16 "You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let yo ur light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven."
c.) 1 Peter 2:9 "But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light."
