Four days after the interview
Four days after the interview
10-29-04 Four days after the interview with Bill McClellan, my phone started ringing, first Pete, then Carol, Sue, and finally David, all with the same message: “He’s dead.” I was both happy and sad. Happy that my demon was dead, that the world was a little safer for kids everywhere, and happy that a man who caused so much pain to me, my family and so many more young people, moms, dads, brothers and sisters was out of the picture. That he was gone was very good. However, I was sad, heart sick through my Christianity that he never repented. He died never saying he was sorry to his family, me, or to God for what he had done. He went to judgement proudly baring the full load of his sins. Just the day before he died Pete told me she was talking to another family member who said he joked about her children saying: “Well, I guess everyone knows I like little boys more than little girls” and then laughed. I was later surprised to hear, from Carol, that Archbishop Burke performed the funeral for Father Christian. Archbishop Burke buried him as a priest in good standing.
